Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

I am very pleased to announce that on June 10, 2014 the City Council appointed me to a three year term on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

I am extremely excited to have joined the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board just as the City Council accepted the Strategic Master Plan for parks, recreation, trails, open space, events and cultural arts. As noted at the June 24th City Council Meeting by Michael McCarty, Director of Parks and Recreation, the acceptance of this plan was “the first approval of any strategic plan for parks and recreation in the history of the city.”

This effort involved a significant outreach and engagement with the community. The final tally indicated that twenty-three percent of the pubic provided feedback in one form or another on the Strategic Master plan. This was achieved through a multi-pronged outreach approach, including in person and online opportunities to discuss the plan. As a new member on the Board, I am eager to get started on moving forward in implementing this plan.
